Mind/Body Integration-How It Works

How We Work So You Can Relieve the Effects of Trauma and Stress in Your Body, and Live More Fully

Is stress part of why your body is breaking down? You may sense that you are numbed out, and unable to connect to what your body needs. You may feel stuck not only physically, but also, in other areas of your life.

In these cases, you may be

Recovering from trauma, injury, or abuse.
Handling loss, betrayal or grief.
Needing to care for yourself better.
Wanting more energy and vitality
Feeling that you protect yourself emotionally.

In our work together, we pay attention to both your physical and emotional goals. We begin with what you want and need that day.

Unlike therapy, where the focus is on talking, or on changing you think or feel, the focus here is on changing how your body feels, so that you gain greater clarity of mind, awareness, and choice.

Here are just a few of the ways your body can support you

  • Feel less overwhelmed
  • Stand taller and with more confidence
  • Increase your energy and vitality
  • Calm your nervous system
  • Listen better to signals of what is or is not right for you

At the start of each session, we may talk and do guided explorations, helping you to connect your thoughts, body sensations, and feelings. We respect your need for safety both physically and emotionally.  From a listening place, you learn how to connect to your body as a place of support, rather than a place of pain.

Then, you lie on the table, fully-clothed, in various positions, as I gently move and touch you in ways that allow you to feel reconnected and whole physically and emotionally. Sessions address both your physical concerns and your emotional well-being, enhancing self-awareness. They help your own growth path become unstuck.

With sessions, you learn to

  • Relax more easily
  • Sense and care for your needs
  • Feel joy and pleasure
  • Have more energy and vitality
  • Feel confident to move forwards in life
